Terms And Conditions
1.The Workshop:

The workspace consists of two large suitable benches and a shared workshop sinks and wedging table. All necessary tools are available for use during workshop.

It is expected that you bring reference materials with you, this can include doodles, drawings, photographs and other two-dimensional materials. (You do not need to be competent in drawing to do this course, though simple drawing exercises are encouraged as part of the course structure, tried and tested, trust me.)

Work should stick to the dimensions specified and stated in the course description to be able to be fired.

Bisque Firings are included in this workshop. The decorating of work is not covered in this workshop.

If work incurs damage during the firing process, Jack cannot take responsibility for this, however the selection of clay and overseeing of the general sculpting process should counteract this being a possibility.

You can take work away before firing, however, please speak with Jack about this first if this is your intention, also ensure that you have suitable packing materials and arrangements in place in order to do this safely and effectively.

Work may need a month or longer during busier times of the year to be fired. This can be affected by climatic factors times of year, as work is preferably allowed to dry slowly.

Fired work is to be collected by the student and arrangements should be made to fit within Jacks availability and work schedule, commitments.
2.Code of Conduct and Considerations:

Rosehill Workshop is a shared co-operative working studio, jewellers work upstairs where the toilets are located, you will need to notify Jack when/ if you need to use this facility, and care should be taken when using the staircase.

Being an old muse building the workshop staircase is steep and the handrail must be used if needing to go upstairs to use the toilet.

Some noise may occur during the course, from machinery, though not significant.

Mindful of other members of Rosehill, this includes general noise, conversation, general behaviour.

Participants must be over the age of 18.

Any known illness such as Covid 19 should be communicated prior to workshop within stated timeframe of cancelation policy.

Jack Durling retains the authority to deny access to his workshop facilities and premises if there is reasonable cause to suspect that these conditions have been violated or if any threatening, bullying, harassing, or disruptive behaviour has taken place. Jack Durling shall not be held responsible for any losses or expenses (including course fees and consequential damages) incurred by individuals who are denied entry to the Pottery Studio for the aforementioned reasons.

Participants are not permitted to bring guests without prior consent from Jack.

Participants are expected to arrive 10 minutes prior to workshop and should phone Jack or Rosehill directly to notify him of lateness.

Participants are expected to follow direction of cleanliness and adhere and help prevent the build up of clay dust and possible exposure.

Jack is not responsible for any personal injury during a participants time at Rosehill.
3.Refreshments, Breaks:

Lunch is not included in this course however Rosehill is located very close to London Road, The Open Market areas of Brighton where both independent and chain coffee shops, bakeries and supermarkets are located. You may wish to bring your own food with you, a microwave, small kitchen and appliances are available to use at your disposal.

Please notify Jack prior to workshops if you have food intolerances, preferences. I.e. oat milk, vegan, gluten free. If you have severe allergies please notify Jack prior to workshop, it is also recommended you prepare of refreshments for yourself to align with these requirements at your own discretion.

Teas, Coffee and Biscuits will be available, a teas break is encouraged.

If you smoke you may use the courtyard, to vape or smoke.
4.Getting Here:

Parking on Rosehill is short stay only and up to 4 hours and paid using downloadable apps. It is recommended longer stay car parks are used if travelling by car, such as the Brighton Station Car Park or the London Road Car Park located near Sainsburys and New England House, a 5 minute approx. walk away.

The workshop area can be walked to easily from the back entrance to Brighton Rail Station and is located near the Open Market Bus stop, Ditchling Road area.

If staying Brighton has many hotels and accommodation options. It is also very well connected via trains to London Victoria, London Bridge and London Black Friars, Gatwick Airport.
5.Booking and Cancelation Policy:

By completing and placing an online booking you have read and understood and accepted these terms and conditions. The customer is expected to share correct details for themselves or if paying for a participant and agree and abide these terms and conditions.

Bookings are to be paid in full prior to workshop.

Only when booking forms and payment are completed and received your booking will then be confirmed.

Cancellations made within 10 days of the start date will be non-refundable.

Cancellations made within 11 days of the start date will be refunded 50% of the Fees.

If there are any unforeseen circumstances as to why Jack cannot facilitate the workshop, you will be contacted for a PAO or possible rearrange, if not a full refund will be given to the participant who has paid for the workshop.
6.Interlecutal Property:

The teaching provided by Jack in workshops are of his intellectual property and he holds the rights to all services in workshops and on his website.

Participants are asked to not photograph workshop or tutor without consent or granted permission.
